June 4th, 2010

Good Morning- The Partnership has been busy the last couple of weeks. Here are a few highlights:

The Premiere of the Asset Minutes: On Wednesday, June 2nd at Marymount University around 150 people were in the audience for the premiere of the Asset Minute PSAs. I think everyone there was impressed with the quality of the PSAs- both content and the quality of the finished product. These PSAs will begin showing on Arlington Educational TV soon (Comcast channel 70,72 &73, FIOS channel 41, 42, & 43 or check their Broadcast Schedule) and we will hopefully have them on the internet soon as well. These PSAs wouldn’t have been possible without the fabulous work of Mary Ann, Amy, and the AETV production team- Darrell Johnson (staff), José Rodas and Caitlin Wiederkehr (student interns) and a whole bunch of student and adult actors.

Interns: The Partnership is fortunate to have two interns working with us right now. Katie Wittingen is a graduate student in Public Administration at George Mason and she is doing a great job crunching numbers and helping Amy get the YRBS data cleaned and ready for analysis. Cristina Phang is a senior at W-L doing her senior experience with the Partnership and helping with a variety of things including preparation for our Youth Alcohol Research Project that will start this summer. Cristina will be attending William & Mary in the fall.

Northern Virginia Data Group: Amy and Ben met with data people from Alexandria, Fairfax, and Voices for Virginia's Children to talk about data and to explore the possibilities of aligning data for better comparisons. We'll continue to meet and hopefully come up with a plan to make our data more compatible.
