READY Coalition Meets w/Dr. Murphy- Kate, Betsy Brown (READY chair) and I met with Dr. Murphy on Monday to talk about the recent high school principal's meeting where they began discussing how APS can combat underage drinking and substance use. Dr. Murphy, Meg Tuccillo, and Ray Pasi (Yorktown principal) are very interested in working with the READY Coalition and have invited us to a July retreat of the high school principals to work on a multi-year plan with them.

Early Childhood Committee Meeting- The Partnership's Early Childhood Committee met on Thursday in an attempt to redefine itself and figure out it's relation to Alexandria/Arlington Smart Beginnings. We came away with a preliminary plan to improve communications between early childhood providers (home daycare, center based preschools, APS, etc). We will also trying to connect with the business community and increasing their awareness of the importance of early childhood education.

Interviews for Youth Risk Behavior Intern- Amy and I have two interviews for potential interns that will help with the YRBS analysis. If you have other potential interns please have them contact us ASAP.
